Stanley Grenz, 1950-2005

I learned from Bethany that the evangelical theologian Stanley Grenz passed away over the weekend. Grenz is one of the only evangelical theologians with whom I am familiar. In my doctrines class, we read neo-orthodox, liberal, and evangelical theologies comparatively, with Grenz representing the evangelical position. Even though I continually struggled with his conservative convictions, I certainly developed respect for his openness to postmodernism and balanced emphasis on Christian practice in addition to Christian belief. His last essay for Christianity Today, Our Last and Only Hope, is a lovely reminder that trusting God is essential.
